What is an Article Troll?

Article Troll [ahr-ti-kuhl trohl] noun

1. Unlike its destructive cousin, the Forum Troll, the benevolent Article Troll searches the Internet for interesting information in the form of articles, dissertations, case studies, opinions, guides, walkthroughs and other works, and presents it to others in order to share the information. In exchange for its worthwhile services, it is given a link to its own websites and its own interests.

2. You.

Wot'z Awl Dis?

Welcome to Article Troll.

We wanted to create a place where people would get the credit they are due for the work they distribute on the Internet. We also wanted to make it easy for people to generate links for useful, valuable content, and to get their own links without having to steal content.

The result - Articletroll.com.

People put effort into writing articles, case studies, dissertations, reviews and opinions. Those people deserve credit for their work and expertise.

A lot of sites offer the ability to submit articles, but some folks steal articles, put their own name on someone else's work and expect to get credit for it - They don't deserve the credit and links that they receive.

We solved the problem by creating a place where people can troll for articles they like, post their sources on our site, thus giving the authors credit in the form of links to their site, while the trolls can support themselves as the finders of good information. They are in turn rewarded with a link to their own site that contains similar original content - or something completely different. Everyone is happy, whether you created the article or not.

Since, only titles, synopses and links are posted here, there is no danger of duplicate content, no copyright infractions and no conflict of interest.

How'z Dis Ting Woyk?

In short, you enter a LINK to an article online (don't try to write or copy/paste one on the submit page) and in exchange for the Article Link, you get to enter a Troll Link which goes to your content. In this way, you give a friend or stranger a backlink for their cool article content, and you get a backlink to your content as a REWARD. Cool, right?

You can even link to your OWN articles for the Article Link and then submit the home page from the same domain as the Troll Link, or any other domain. In this way you get two backlinks to two different pages that you own, all in one submission. Even cooler.

You can view article synopses that interest you by selecting the category on the homepage, and then selecting the appropriate sub category on each category page.

To submit articles, on anything from speed metal to macramé whether they're yours or not, click the Submit An Article link.

The Submission Form has two sections - One for the article information and one for the troll's information:

For example, you might submit an article about how to install a toilet, and the Troll Link is to your plumbing business.

Or, you might submit an article about how to install a toilet, and the Troll Link is to your MySpace page. I don't know what that says about your MySpace page, but hey, it's your link.

The article could be on your domain (the same as the troll link), on another domain, a blog, another article site, pretty much anywhere. Link to the article, then link to the page you want the reward backlink to point to. If you own both links, you get two backlinks for the price of one.

Erm...Wat If Weez Hadn't Ritten Any Artikles? Where Can We Findz Em?

Slacker! Just kidding. There are lots of good places to find articles. Just look around websites and blogs you frequent. Articles include reviews of products, and rants about things, assuming the rant is on one specific topic. Check out Squidoo or Hubpages, there's some good focused content there too. Ever heard of Wikipedia? Article Link (yes it's a verb, we said so) an interesting wiki entry from there or any wiki. Anecdotes, stories and comedy bits all make for good content in the miscellaneous section. Check out the hundreds and hundreds of article directories where articles are posted and do a search. Pow! Tons of articles on subjects that interest you. All you need next is a Troll Link.

Any Artikles or Links Weez Can't Post? (Prohibited Websites)

Our goal here is to create content for research, personal development and interest, and the material here must cover a wide audience. As a result, any content that would not be appropriate for minors or the very easily offended is not permitted here. Article links and Troll Links that have content including anything X-rated, including but not limited to discussions of X-rated products or other adult themes, are prohibited.

Do not submit articles, links, websites or promotions that involve violence and gore for violence and gore's sake. We're looking for articles that educate, rather than titillate or induce vomiting. You can be humorous, or scary, or just plain weird, but we draw the line after weird. Although there are perfectly good articles with sex advice and the like, they don't belong here, and there are plenty of forums for that purpose. Sorry.

Attempts to link to sites that would cause harm to users' computers by visiting those sites WILL force us to log your IP address and a report WILL be filed with the proper Federal authorities.

Finally, we want you to post article content first, and your Troll Link second. Any Article Link that goes to a page that isn't content specific and informative on a particular topic will be ignored. Your home page is probably not a sufficient Article Link, unless individual content is just stacked there subject by subject (like a blog).

We review each link for appropriateness and quality so if your link doesn't appear, it proably blew up under one or more of the above criteria.

Other Websites that are OK

Some articles only exist on other article submission sites - its ok to link to those. If someone can prove a newer source, we'll change it after the fact.

If you want to submit an entire site, instead of an article, you can do that too, as long as the website, blog or lens is about one fairly specific topic. The author's article link can't be to his entire meandering blog, but a blog, site or lens about one subject, like speed metal or macramé is fine.

Hur, Hur, You'z Likez Macramé, Doncha?

And speed metal…a lot.

Where was I? Oh, in the event that Article Troll can't determine which of two disputed sites is the original author, we'll simply remove the listing, including the submitter's listing, so there's no point in cheating. Play nice, or else.

Why Dint My Artikuls Git Posted?

There are several reasons your submission was denied. These tend to be:

These 3 are the biggest reasons. Lots of people try to dump whatever links they want here...but we check them, so if it isn't viable article content, we ignore your submission. The troll link is for whatever you want, the article link is for useful, article content, period. Not your homepage that links to article content, but the article itself. Your homepage with your sales pitch for your widget business is not an article.

If you aren't sure whether content makes for a good article, send us the link and we will check it out.

That's it. Any other questions?

Yer. How'z We Gonna Kontact Ya?

Every page has a Contact Us link at the top, but in case you missed it - contact us with suggestions, accolades, questions, more accolades, edits/alternate sources, worshipful praise or anything else. Note: Our email is NOT a forum for speed metal or macramé.

Darn. Oh Yer, Don'z Fergitz Da Legaly Shtuff

Right.

All content listed for authors is assumed to be the copyrighted material of those authors on their own websites. Any disputes about real authors will be investigated, and if no certainty can be established, then the listing will be removed.
