Article Troll Squidoo Lens Directory FAQ

Welcome to the New Article Troll

What is Article Troll?

Article Troll was originally designed to be a repository for article content on the Internet. As a Squidoo user, I soon realized that I wanted to showcase lenses instead, so Article Troll was retrofitted to showcase lenses instead of article content from article sites.

We wanted to create a place where people would get the credit they are due for the work they distribute on the Internet. We also wanted to make it easy for people to generate links for useful, valuable content, and to get their own links without having to steal content.

The result - Articletroll.com.

People put effort into developing their lenses and those people deserve credit for their work and expertise.

A lot of sites offer the ability to submit articles, but some folks steal articles, put their own name on someone else's work and expect to get credit for it - They don't deserve the credit and links that they receive.

We solved the problem by creating a place where people can troll for lenses they like, post their sources on our site, thus giving the authors credit in the form of links to their lens, while the trolls can support themselves as the finders of good information. They are in turn rewarded with a link to their own lens that contains similar original content - or something completely different. Everyone is happy, whether you created the lens or not.

Since, only titles, synopses and links are posted here, there is no danger of duplicate content, no copyright infractions and no conflict of interest.

How Does Article Troll Work?

In short, you copy/paste a Title, Link to a lens, Synopsis and then pick a Category, and in exchange for the Lens Link, you get to enter a Troll Link which goes to additional content, (or your group, Lensopgraphy, Bio, etc). In this way, you give a friend or stranger a backlink for their cool lens content, and you get a backlink to your content as a REWARD. Cool, right?

You can even link to your OWN lens for the Lens Link and then submit another of your lenses (or groups, Lensography or Bio). In this way you get two backlinks to two different pages that you own, all in one submission. Even cooler.

How are Categories Organized?

Categories are organized just like they are on Squidoo. We've also included categories for groups, biographies, and lensographies so you can showcase those as well. To be clear, biographies are the pages you go to when you click an avatar, and lensographies are lenses you create to showcase all (or some) of your lenses. These should be used for this purpose as opposed to the About Me category, as About Me can focus on lenses specifically about you, not necessarily your other Squidoo content.

This may help you find your listing if we move it. We reserve the right to move lenses to the category we think it belongs in, even if it differs from the category it is in on Squidoo.

Can I Submit Unpublished Squidoo Content?

Yes...but why would you want to? We check every submission to make sure it belongs in the right spot, which means we look at every actual lens (yay, a free hit for you). If we discover an unpublished lens, we'll give you a week's grace to build it up. If it's still unpublished after that, your submission will be deleted from Article Troll. You're always welcome to come back and resubmit it. Duplicate submissions of lenses that already exist will be deleted.

Can I Submit Content That Does Not Go To Squidoo?

No. Non-Squidoo submissions will be deleted.

Why Do Some Links Go to Non-Squidoo Content?

This is a throwback to the old Article Troll. Some users got to Troll Link to whatever they wanted, and that has been changed to focus on Squidoo specifically. All new submissions will be linked to Squidoo content only. All non-Squidoo content will be deleted.
